NordTech 2009

NordTech 2009 is over and we sure had a great time!

NordTech is a kick-off Avanade have every year where our fellow collegues from Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway meet. It’s a really great event where I had the chance to meet both new and old collegues over good food, beer and SPA. This time we met in Ystad Saltsjöbad ( A nice Swedish SPA hotel by the Sea ) and took a plane to denmark/Copenhagen and the bus from denmark to sweden/Ystad.
During this event I had a Silverlight and XNA stand where I on a big screen showed other interessted collegues the silverlight project I had, Microsoft Surface, and my XNA projects ( Grill Simulator ) and how Shaders can be made.

I had many visits on my stand and recived a lot of good feedback 🙂 Cool to see that many ppl. interessted in your projects!

Anyways, I also got one of the Employee of the year awards( in all the nordic contries ) and won a nice iPod NANO ( the newest model ) and an Avanade bath-coat. 😀

Thanks for a nice weekend.

The GameCamp is also over and the rumors said it went really well. I’m sad I could not make it there, but next time I will! You can read more about this on www.gamecamp.no , on Einar Ingebritsens blog and on ScottBilas.com. 🙂 Nice work!

An update on Grill Simulator 360

The GrillSimulator 360 project is moving on. I’v spent hundreds of hours on this project, and it’s finally looking like a game. Still alot to make, lot’s of functionality and so on, but I think we are in a good spot for an alpha release during the next weeks.

The plan is to release one early alpha version to the Dream-Build-Play 08 contest, deadline September 23rd.

Grill Simulator 360

Grill Simulator 360

Lately I’v been working alot on the Grill Simulator project for XBox 360. The game is progressing quite fast atm, but I have to take a break next week due to a Military thingie. Anyways, I decided to share some screenshots of the current progress.

Project details
Name: Grill Simulator 360
Platform: XBox 360 and Windows
By: Dark Codex
Release date: lol..
Multiplayer: Yes, but maybe not in the first version
Version: 0.1
Description: The game will be released at the XBox live marketplace( hopefully ) and be available for download there.
You live a life behind the grill. Your goal is to eran alot of money and be the BBQ. Champion. To get there, you need to start at the low level, bbq some food, sell them on the street, research new equiptment and food, get popular, post ads around, move to better and more populated places and earn money. You also have to create and represent your grill team, and compete with others.

Buy clothes that will attract the right customers, learn neat tricks for flipping your brurgers, 360, 1080++ and impress the audience by being the best. At some occations, you can get missions like be the grill-master at a wedding, or grill ALOT of sausages for a kids birthday, can you handle the small kids constantly asking for more?

Silvershine -> XNA

I now officially started porting the Silvershine and Grill Simulator project to XNA 3.0 🙂

If I get where I want, the plan is to deliver it as a game to the XBox 360 Live community. I’ll post frequent updaes on this blog as the development move forward.

Does anyone know about a class or library that I can use, or tip me in te right direction so I can get animated models ( .X? ) in my games?

Procedural textures and models

Lately I have been making a tool that mathematicaly generates procedural models and textures for our 64k Intros. I have decided to share some simple screenshots my applications have produced.

This is just a fraction of the posibilities available, but who knows, I might release the application one day, but for now it must remain a secret. ;P

64k and Solskogen

I decided to visit Solskogen( solskogen.demoscene.no ) next weekend, a demoscene party in Ås. I hope it’s gonna be cool 🙂 Sleep in tents, BBQ, play NES, watch demos and just chillout with fellow sceners 😛

Anyhow, our 64k engine is progressing. Can’t say much about it, except that it rocks ;P Been working with GLSL as well, and I must say it’s a good Shader Language!
I decided to work alot with procedural textures and models, in order to create an interesting 64k Intro for The Gathering 2009, so be sure to check out this site for some screenshots and so on.

Yeah, I know this post was boring, btw.

Oh, and Illuminatics ( Web site ) won the Norwegian Game Award, congratulations.
